The 787 Series 36 Plus 3 was launched in October 2020 by JR Kyushu as a premium express that circles around all seven prefectures within the Kyushu region. It is their 12th D&S (Design & Story) train, created by transforming one of the original 787 train sets. Fully redesigned inside and out, the train features a glossy black exterior with gold accents and a warm, wood-themed interior with traditional touches like shoji-style windows. All cars were upgraded to Green Cars (first-class), delivering a high-quality, refined, and comfortable ride. The buffet car also made a return for the first time in 17 years on a 787 train, offering drinks, light snacks, souvenirs, and exclusive merchandise.
