The 923-3000 Series 3000 T5 trainset, commonly known as “Doctor Yellow,” is a Shinkansen inspection train used on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines in Japan. It collects essential data used for track and infrastructure maintenance through comprehensive electrical and track inspection. The Doctor Yellow has long been a favorite among Shinkansen enthusiasts, children, and tourists.
The T5 trainset is scheduled to retire in January 2027. This model replicates the “Thank you” logos currently displayed on the door windows of Cars 1 and 7.
