The DB Class ET425 is a type of electric train used for everyday local travel within Germany. It operates in major cities and regions such as Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Hanover, and Berlin, running on both regional routes and urban commuter lines.

A total of 249 trainsets were introduced between 1999 and 2008 with the aim of replacing the earlier ET420 class as well as locomotive-hauled passenger trains.

The trains use a four-car articulated configuration, and weight reduction has been achieved through the use of aluminum car bodies. Depending on operational needs, they can also be seen running in coupled formations.
