The E6 series began commercial operations as a new type of vehicle for the Akita Shinkansen rail line in March 2013. It connects Tokyo to Akita, a region in the northeastern part of Japan’s main island. On the Tokyo to Morioka route, it is coupled with the E5/H5 series Shinkansen and operates at the domestic maximum speed of 320 km/h.
