Forestry is a thriving industry along the routes of the Rhaetian Railway, and log transport by rail has become one of the railway’s most iconic sights. The R-w flatcar, used for these transports, is a versatile wagon capable of carrying not only logs, but also containers and heavy machinery. These flat freight cars can often be seen on street rail tracks, either loaded with logs or empty, in short train consists. The Flat Car R-w, used for transporting logs and containers, is now available as part of KATO’s RhB lineup. The log transport supports are designed to be adjustable, allowing for a realistic and flexible setup. Also available are several variations: a 4-car set loaded with logs, a 4-car set with containers, a single unloaded car, and a 3-piece log pile set. These additions let you recreate authentic mixed freight operations by combining different cargo types, or even form mixed passenger-freight trains using other Rhaetian Railway passenger and freight cars—just like the real trains running through the Swiss Alps.
